You'll need to answer a few questions before you start in order to find out if you have what it takes to be among the 5% successful people.
Do you have the time?
Working from home doesn't mean that you have a lot of free time, but that you are free to work when you find it convenient. If you want to succeed in your home business, you'll need to put in a lot of quality hours of work. The number of productive hours which you give to your business will decide its destiny.
To be among the 5% successful people, you will need to give more time to your business than what you did in your previous job.
If you are looking for a home based business to supplement your regular income, you probably won't be able to put in many hours of work. There is nothing wrong with that, but you'll need to set your expectations accordingly. There might be times when you feel that you're not doing justice to either your job or your business or both.
Do you have the motivation?
Working from home is significantly different from working in an office under someone. You don't have a boss to force you to work 8 hours a day anymore. You'll need to motivate yourself to work on your home business opportunity every single day. However, it becomes a habit after a while and you'll not need to keep reminding yourself everyday.
You should have the ability to make your own decisions. You should have the motivation to keep your chin up when things aren't that smooth. If you cannot motivate yourself to work hard, then you won't be able to sustain your business for long.
Are you willing to learn?
There is a huge learning curve involved, when you start working from home. You'll need to muster the willingness to educate yourself and acquire the necessary skills in order to succeed with your own business. If you don't put in the due efforts towards learning new ways of working, you will soon find yourself confused and frustrated with the things which you don't understand.
Do you have the patience?
Doing business from home gives you a lot of freedom, but there is a price which you have a pay for it. Regardless of what the so called gurus tell you, succeeding in your home business takes a lot of hard work. You have to spend a lot of time marketing your product or service, so that people start noticing your business.
You need to maintain high standards of work ethic in your business, if you want people to return to you for more business. Your business may be slow to start with, nevertheless, you'll need to be patient and put in the same amount of hard work everyday, until you start getting the results.
